Hawaii first baseman Eric Ramirez greeted outfielder Adam Fogel after a run during the second inning against Air Force Academy tonight.
Dominic DeMiero and Colin Ashworth collaborated on a six-hitter to lift the University of Hawaii baseball team to a 4-1 victory over Air Force tonight at Les Murakami Stadium.
The ’Bows won their first two games of the season for the first time since 2011.
DeMiero, who struggled with a “tired” left (pitching) arm last season, struck out five while allowing a run, four hits and a walk in six innings.
Ashworth pitched the final three innings for his first save.
DeMiero yielded a first-inning homer to Nic Ready, but was in control after that. He quelled a threat when the Falcons placed runners at second and third with one out in the fifth. DeMiero coaxed Colby Brown to fly out to short right and Jacob Booker to ground out to short.
Adam Fogel had three hits, including two doubles, scored two runs and drove in another for the ’Bows.
