A brightly hued umbrella adds color to the overcast scene in Waikiki. Diminishing trade winds will deliver abundant low clouds and showers today, mainly to windward and mauka areas.

Oahu is under a flood advisory until 11 p.m. today.

“At 7:46 p.m., radar indicated moderate to occasional heavy rain across the Koolau mountains and southeast portions of Oahu,” National Weather Service officials said. “Rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour and will continue to cause nuisance flooding across southeast Oahu this evening.

Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to Ahuimanu, Punaluu, Hauula, Waimanalo, Kailua, Manoa, Maunawili, Kaneohe, Waikane, Kaneohe Marine Base, Waiahole and Palolo.

The National Weather Service reports a developing front will move down the island chain Friday and Saturday, and then stall near the Big Island on Sunday into next week. This will bring a period of clouds and showers to windward and leeward portions of the islands.
