The 48th-annual Ukulele Festival Hawaii at Kapiolani Park on July 15 showed the worldwide appeal of the instrument, with Sunset Strummers from California, the Northern Virginia Ukulele Society, LeaLea Ukulele Garden from Japan and the New Zealand Ukulele Senior Squad performing at the event. Hawaii’s own Ohta-San and Nando Suan, Raiatea Helm and Jake Shimabukuro contributed their talents as well.
