Water main break closes mauka lane of Palolo Avenue

Honolulu police have closed the mauka-bound lane of Palolo Avenue as the Board of Water Supply responds to a water main break.

Traffic is being re-routed to Kauhana Street prior to 2181 Palolo Avenue.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible.

BWS said the break was first reported at 10:30 a.m. and is affecting a 12-inch main. As of 12:15 p.m. today, 26 customers are without water service. Crews have attached a faucet to a fire hydrant across 2152 Palolo Avenue for residents to access while repairs are made. A water wagon is available at 2204 Palolo Avenue.

Repairs are expected to continue into the evening.
