High surf advisory remains in effect for some east-facing shores
A high surf advisory remains in effect for the east-facing shores of Oahu, Molokai, Maui and the Big Island through 6 p.m. today, according to weather officials, but has been canceled for the north-facing shores of the isles.
Surf is expected to reach heights of 8 to 12 feet along the east-facing shores of Oahu, Molokai and the Big Island through this evening.
In addition to strong breaking waves and rip currents, beachgoers, swimmers and surfers should exercise caution and heed all advice from Ocean Safety officials.
Mariners on Maui and the Big Island, meanwhile, are warned of a long-period, northeast swell that will bring the potential for surges to north-facing harbors, including Hilo and Kahului Harbors, today.
