Hawaii baseball defeats Cal State Northridge, 4-3
Tyler Murray singled home Dallas Duarte with the go-ahead run to lift Hawaii to a 4-3 baseball victory over Cal State Northridge today at Matador Field in Northridge, Calif.
Duarte drew a one-out walk in the eighth inning, then advanced to second on a passed ball. Murray followed with a single to left field to break a 3-all tie. Murray apparently has healed from a hamstring injury that forced him to depart early from last week’s game against Cal State Fullerton. Murray did not play in Wednesday’s nonconference game against San Diego.
By winning the opener of the three-game series, the Rainbow Warriors improved to 18-20 overall and 7-6 in the Big West.
Dylan Thomas earned the victory after escaping jams in each of the final three innings. Thomas induced a game-ending double play.
The teams meet at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
