Highway lane remains closed as crews repair road above Waianae water main

Board of Water Supply crews announced about noon today that repairs have been completed on a 16-inch water main break on Farrington Highway near Waianae Public Library.

The right eastbound lane on Farrington Highway by the library, however, will remain closed as crews repair the roadway. Road repairs are expected to continue into the evening. Motorists are asked to drive slowly and exercise caution in the area.

The water main break, first reported about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, required the closure of Waianae Intermediate School today.

Approximately 18 customers were affected, including Waianae District Park, and water wagons placed at Waianae Boat Harbor.

Also, repairs to a smaller 8-inch main between Imipono Street and Waianae Valley Road are ongoing. Motorists are advised to expect delays and drive with caution.
