Letter: Turn down loud volume on night sirens, please

Please consider turning the decibel level down on emergency vehicles in the middle of the night. I value the commitment to around-the-clock service and safety, but there are many citizens who are sleeping in the middle of the night. We would like a good night’s uninterrupted sleep.

The loud sirens wake dogs, babies, adults and constitute noise pollution. Let’s kindly discuss this matter so we can all live on this island in harmony.

One easy solution would be to turn the siren volume down during off-peak hours, and turn it up again for daytime emergencies.

Or consider doing a quick “woop-woop” brief siren sound instead of a continuous and drawn-out full-on siren symphony.

I am open to suggestions from professional responders.
