Man, 35, arrested after his girlfriend is fatally stabbed in Makiki Heights

A 35-year-old man is in custody in connection with the deadly stabbing of his 31-year-old girlfriend in Makiki Heights.

Positive identification of the stabbing victim is pending.

Police and Emergency Medical Services responded to the stabbing at the Mott-Smith Laniloa condominium building at 1717 Mott Smith Drive at about 8 p.m. Sunday.

When officers arrived, they found the victim unresponsive with multiple stab wounds to her body.

Police said the victim was taken to The Queen’s Medical Center where she died.

Details of the circumstances surrounding the stabbing was not immediately known.

Officers arrested the suspect at the scene on suspicion of second-degree murder, according to Lt. Deena Thoemmes of the Honolulu Police Department’s Homicide Detail. The investigation is ongoing.
