The University of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine basketball team has been picked to finish third in the Big West Conference pre-season poll by the media and fifth by the league’s coaches, the conference office announced today.

The Rainbow Wahine finished second to UC Davis last season at 16-14 (9-7 in conference) and won the opening game of the Big West Tournament before COVID-19 forced its cancellation.

UC Davis was the unanimous pick to win the 11-member conference. The Big West adds two teams, Cal State Bakersfield and UC San Diego, this season.

None of the Rainbow Wahine players were selected to the pre-season all-conference team.

The Big West men’s poll is expected to be released Thursday.
