A-28-year-old Haiku man suffered life-threatening injuries in a collision in Kahului on Sunday.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Daily Road and Hukilike Street just before 11:50 a.m.

Police said a Chevrolet pickup truck driven by a 42-year-old Waiehu man was traveling northeast on Hukilike Street and attempted to execute a left turn onto Dairy Road when it collided with a Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by the 28-year-old.

The motorcycle was traveling southwest on Dairy Road at the time of the crash. Police said the motorcyclist suffered critical injuries and was taken to a hospital.

The pickup driver was not injured.

Police said the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

It’s unclear at this time whether speed, drugs or alcohol were involved. An investigation is underway.
