Man, 28, critically injured in Ewa motorcycle crash
A motorcyclist was critically injured in a two-vehicle collision in the Ewa area Sunday night.
The collision occurred on the westbound lanes of the H-1 Freeway near the Ewa off-ramp at about 7:45 p.m.
Police said a 2005 Harley Davidson operated by a 28-year-old man was speeding and weaving in and out of traffic when it clipped the rear of a 2007 Chevrolet sport utility vehicle driven by a 29-year-old woman.
The motorcyclist fell onto the pavement upon impact. He was taken in critical condition to a hospital.
Police said he was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
The SUV driver was not injured.
Officers temporarily closed all westbound lanes of the freeway between the Kunia off-ramp and Ewa off-ramp to investigate. Lanes were reopened before 11:10 p.m.
Police said speed was a factor on the part of the motorcyclist. It was not immediately known whether alcohol or drugs were involved. The investigation is ongoing.
