UPDATE: 2 p.m.
Hawaii County police have reopened this afternoon Daniel K. Inouye Highway in both directions from the Old Saddle Road junction to the Highway 190 junction.
The highway had been closed overnight and throughout this morning due to an estimated 320-acre brush fire.
The police department urges the public to continue exercising extra caution when driving the stretch of highway between mile markers 46 and 49.5, as police may have to partially close a Hilo-bound lane while equipment is moved during demobilization.
