Registered sex offender charged with sexually assaulting 12-year-old boy
A 40-year-old Liliha man who allegedly sexually assaulted and created pornography of a 12-year-old boy remains in prison unable to post bail.
Jay Abregana, a registered sex offender who pleaded guilty in 2002 to a federal charge of transporting pornography, was arrested at his home at 8:10 p.m. Friday. He is being held on $200,000 bail at the Oahu Community Correctional Center.
He was charged at 5 p.m. Saturday with two counts of first-degree promoting child abuse, two counts of first-degree sexual assault, continuous sexual assault of a minor under the age of 14, four counts of third-degree sexual assault, and promoting pornography for minors.
Police said the 12-year-old victim reported that Abregana sexually assaulted him over a period of time. Police did not release further details.
The offense of continuous sexual assault of a minor relates to a perpetrator either living in the same home or having recurring access to a minor and engaged in three or more acts of sexual penetration or contact with the minor over a period of time.
