Rainbow Wahine basketball team beats Portland State

Kamilah Jackson scored 22 points and grabbed 19 rebounds to lead the University of Hawaii women’s basketball team to a 78-66 win over Portland State tonight at the Stan Sheriff Center.

The Rainbow Wahine improved to 3-7 with their second consecutive win. Portland State fell to 5-4.

UH led 42-37 at halftime and opened up a 16-point lead early in the second half. Portland State chopped the lead to four with a 14-2 run, but the Wahine answered with by scoring the next six points and reclaimed a double-digit lead at 73-63 on Alissa Campanero’s 3-pointer.

UH guard Kanisha Bello scored a season-high 15 points. Forward Vicky Tagalicod scored 11 points on 5-for-11 shooting in her UH debut. Center Kalei Adolpho had six points and eight rebounds in her first basketball game after completing her freshman year with the UH volleyball team.

The Chevron Rainbow Wahine Shootout continues Monday with UH facing Denver at 7 p.m.
