Kalapana woman arrested after rifle pointed at passersby

Hawaii County police arrested a 34-year-old Kalapana woman Wednesday after receiving a report that someone was pointing a rifle at people in Kalapana.

Puna patrol officers responded to a call about 5:30 p.m. that a woman was pointing a rifle at passersby near the end of Highway 130. Officers arrested the suspect without incident and recovered an air rifle.

Police initiated a terroristic threatening case and released the woman Wednesday night without charges.
