Rainbows lose first road game of the season

Marco Gonzales went 3-for-4 with a home run and Gonzaga opened a four-game series against Hawaii with a 4-1 victory on Friday at Washington Trust Field at the Patterson Complex in Spokane, Wash.

Pi’ikea Kitamura had three of Hawaii’s nine hits and Cody Clark doubled to score Kaeo Aliviado for UH’s only run.

Tyler Olson (3-0) gave up one run on eight hits in seven innings with no walks and six strikeouts to earn the win for the Zags (13-6).

David Bigelow struck out three over the final two innings to earn his second save.

Matt Sisto (4-2) took the loss for Hawaii (14-8), allowing 10 hits and four runs in 6 1/3 innings. He also ended a streak of 33 consecutive innings without allowing a walk.

The series continues with a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. Hawaii time.
