Man, teen arrested after Haleiwa road rage incident

Honolulu police arrested a man and a teenager after they allegedly assaulted a 62-year-old man in a road rage incident in Haleiwa on Sunday.

Police said the two suspects, ages 20 and 17, and the victim were involved in a minor vehicle collision on Kamehameha Highway at about 3 p.m. that escalated when they began colliding into each other’s vehicles during a pursuit when the suspects fled the scene.

At some point, the victim used his vehicle “to box in” the suspects’ vehicle. Police said the suspects exited their vehicle and began to assault the man while he was still in his vehicle.

Officers responded and arrested both suspects on suspicion of first-degree criminal property damage and unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle.
