HPD officer guilty of buying, selling stolen vehicle
A federal jury found Honolulu police officer Landon K. Rudolfo guilty this morning of knowingly buying then selling a stolen vehicle.
Rudolfo faces a maximum 10-year prison at sentencing in July. He remains free on signature bond until then.
The jury found him not guilty of a conspiracy charge involving the theft of another vehicle.
During the trial, former Honolulu police officer Roddy Tsunezumi testified as a government witness against Rudolfo saying that he and Rudolfo negotiated the sale of a stolen SUV while they were on the job at the Honolulu Police Department’s main headquarters.
Both men were assigned to HPD’s Traffic Division at the time.
He also said he and Rudolfo arranged the phony theft of another vehicle as part of an insurance fraud scheme.
Tsunezumi pleaded guilty to, and is serving a 33-month prison sentence for, extortion in an unrelated case.
Rudolfo, an 11-year HPD veteran, is on leave without pay.

Another rotten apple in the barrel.
Sad to see such a radical decline in the ethics and competency of HPD. Oddly, HPD has received huge salary increases and is now one of the best-paid forces for a mid-sized city in America. The clownish “chief,” an affirmative action pick, needs to step down. He is battling his own corruption charges. bring in someone who has a proven track record on the mainland.

How many more are on the police force that we don’t know about? Too bad our great police chief doesn’t have undercover people to police the police but I guess he’s busy dodging his own bullets.
Make an example out of this rogue cop. You are held to a higher standard than any of us. Give him the max.
Has the law finally been changed to ensure convicted ex cops do not retain their pensions? No sense in throwing good money after bad.

It is never known how and why a person that has been entrusted with the name “Honolulu’s Finest” turns and goes over to the other side. It needs to be reminded that 99% of Officers do the best work possible. That rate is higher than the general population, which has, I guess, a 95% rate, of those who have never been convicted of a crime.
You mean he wasn’t out giving traffic tickets, hiding like a badged panty near speed traps, or sitting on Roosevelt Avenue in old Barbers Point with his car door open and foot up waiting to spot who knows what?? That’s preposterous! ……At least this guy is making money for his family.

This explains why HPD almost never recovers stolen vehicles or catches the thief; they either get part of the cut or are running part of the theft ring.
Yep, should be dealt with like days of old when you steal a horse.
