Vulcans 15th in women’s golf

The Hawaii-Hilo women’s golf team is in 15th place going into today’s final round of the Grand Canyon Invitational in Goodyear, Ariz.

The Vulcans had an aggregate 322 and trail leader Cal State Monterey by 20 strokes in the 18-team event. Nyssa Aoki led UHH with an 80 and is tied for 37th, eight strokes behind Northeastern State’s Kelsay Kirkpatick.

Hawaii teams finish in top 10

Two Hawaii sailing teams finished in the top 10 at the St. Francis Intersectional in San Francisco last weekend.

UH’s coed squad took third place, while the Rainbow Wahine team finished 10th out of 32 teams.

Oldest marathon participant honored

Part-time Hawaii resident Gladys Burrill, 92, was honored yesterday by the Hawaii House of Representatives after Guinness World Records confirmed on Saturday that Burrill is the oldest woman to finish a marathon. Burrill power-walked and jogged the Honolulu Marathon on Dec. 12.
