Police seek help in finding Kona man in connection with sex assault

  • Hawaii County police are asking for the public’s help in locating William John Johnson, 22, of Kona, who is wanted for questioning in connection with a sexual assault.

Hawaii County police are asking for the public’s help in locating a 22-year-old Kona man wanted for questioning in connection with a sexual assault. 

William John Johnson, who has no permanent address, is also wanted on a $10,000 bench warrant in an unrelated case. He may be in Kona or Waipio. He is described as 5-foot-9, 150 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes. 

Police ask that anyone with information on his whereabouts call the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311. 

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000. Crime Stoppers is a volunteer program run by ordinary citizens who want to keep their community safe. All Crime Stoppers information is kept confidential.
