Man dies after jumping from car on H-1 freeway
A man died Tuesday morning after jumping from a moving car on the H-1 freeway.
He was identified by the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s office as 20-year-old Lueka Sonis of Honolulu.
Emergency Medical Services said the incident happened near the Dillingham Boulevard exit just after 4:30 a.m., as the car traveled east on the H-1 freeway.
Sonis was taken to a hospital in critical condition and died of his injuries at 5:18 a.m., authorities said.
Traffic was closed off the freeway from Dillingham Boulevard to the Middle Street Tunnel during the investigation and diverted to Nimitz Highway.
The freeway was reopened at about 5:20 a.m.

The incident has been referred to the police criminal investigators.
Police told Hawaii News Now that the victim, who was the passenger, jumped out of the vehicle after an argument with the driver. He may have been drinking earlier, police said.
