HILO >> The uncle of a girl testified during a trial of a choir director accused of sexually assaulting her that he hit the man when he saw him with the naked girl on the floor of a Big Island church.

Peter Kalani Bailey is being retried on four counts of attempted sexual assault. The alleged incident happened in 2007 at Hamakua Coast Assembly of God Church, where Bailey was choir director.

The then-12-year-old girl’s uncle testified Monday that he drove to the church after the girl’s brother said he saw her naked with Bailey in the church.

Hawaii Tribune-Herald reports the uncle says he was enraged when he saw his niece being violated. The uncle says he told a 911 dispatcher Bailey was bleeding because he hit him.
