A 19-year-old murder suspect arrested on an out-of-state warrant waived his right to challenge extradition in state court Monday and agreed to return to Tennessee. 

The U.S. Marshals Service said members of its task force arrested Brandon Horton last Thursday at an Ishibashi Place home on Aliamanu Military Reservation. 

Deputy Public Defender Lesley Maloian told a state judge Monday that Horton was living there with his father and step mother. His father is a U.S. Army sergeant assigned to Hawaii. 

Maloian said Horton was aware of the case against him and was making arrangements to return to Tennessee when he was arrested. 

State Circuit Judge Richard Perkins ordered Horton to remain in custody without the opportunity for release on bail pending his extradition. 

Horton is wanted in Tennessee for murder in connection with the March 30 fatal shooting of 19-year-old Craig Lambert. 

Nashville Metro Police said Lambert was shot in Hadley Park, near Tennessee State University. 

The Tennessean newspaper identified Lambert as a TSU student. It is not clear whether Horton was also a student. 

Police said witnesses told them that Lambert accidentally shot himself with his own gun. 

The Tennessean said Lambert was shot in the head. 

Police said autopsy results and other evidence cast doubt on the witnesses’ accounts and that detectives later disproved the claim that the shooting was accidental. 

A grand jury returned an indictment against Horton, which remains sealed pending his return to Nashville.
