Pump problem with restrooms closes Hanauma Bay beach area
The city closed the Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve today because of a problem with an electrical pump that services the beach-level comfort station and other areas, the Department of Parks and Recreation reported.
The visitors center, parking lot and lookout areas on the upper level of the facility are open, while the beach section is closed.
It’s unclear how long the closure will last.
The closure is the second at Hanauma’s lower level this month caused by electrical malfunctions.
The city closed the beach for six days, from Feb. 4 through Feb. 9, after a transformer blew out, leaving all lower level operations without power until it could be repaired.

Best to stick with the Baldor motor brand. Very reliable motor.
Hanauma Bay been shut down for a lot of reasons lately. Better maintenance and upkeep would be nice. Lots of tourists and locals go there everyday. Loss of revenue when it’s closed.
paniolo, I agree. Our only revenue machine is tourism. This State is a ship without a rudder. As I have stated before we have so many career politicians with the same DNA that the interbreeding has produced idiots. There are no checks and balances. Redundancy is essential to keep the flow of tourists in and out $$$ and $$$–that’s the way it should be. And it we had a lottery–let them buy tickets and tickets-BUT–there were opponents to that bill: California Resorts and Boyd Gambling–so obviously it was stopped.
