‘Bows take series lead with win over West Virginia
Eric Ramirez’s first career home run helped give Alex Hatch his first career win for Hawaii in a 6-2 victory over West Virginia to take the series lead tonight at Les Murakami Stadium.
Hatch (1-1) allowed one run on five hits in 6 2/3 innings with no walks and seven strikeouts for the Rainbow Warriors (6-6).
BJ Myers (2-1), who didn’t allow a run in his first two starts of the season, gave up five on seven hits with one walk and five strikeouts in six innings to take the loss for the Mountaineers (6-3).
Ramirez launched a two-run homer to right in the third inning for his first dinger in 233 career at-bats.
Johnny Weeks had the first three-hit game of his career and Jacob Sheldon-Collins extended his hitting streak to 11 games, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
The series finale Sunday begins at 1:05 p.m.
