A 24-year-old man was in custody today for investigation of attempted murder after another man was stabbed in Kalihi, authorities said.

The suspect assaulted a 39-year-old man with a dangerous instrument about 1:20 a.m., police said.

Paramedics treated the 39-year-old man for a stab wound to the upper left back and took him to a hospital, an Emergency Medical Services report said. He was later released from the hospital.

Officers arrested the suspect on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder in front of his home, where the incident occurred, near the intersection of Silva and Mokauea streets.
