Hawaii Foodbank held its 27th annual Food Drive Day Saturday, with volunteers at locations across Oahu asking motorists and passers-by for monetary or food donations. The nonprofit agency, which has a Kauai branch and also aids Maui and Hawaii island organizations, distributed more than 12.2 million pounds of food from its Oahu and Kauai warehouses, according to its 2015 annual report. Trinity Shiroma of Radford High School tried to complete simple tasks Saturday while wearing “marijuana goggles” that simulated what it is like to drive impaired. The activity was part of the Operation Driver Excellence event at Aloha Stadium, which highlighted the dangers of distracted driving and promoted safe driving habits.
