Warning signs were posted at Makaha Beach in 2015 following a shark attack.

Lifeguards closed Hanalei Bay to swimming after two sharks were seen near the pier at about 1:30 p.m. today.

Lifeguards posted ‘No Swimming’ and ‘Shark Sighted’ signs along the beach, a Kauai County spokeswoman said in a news release.

Beach-goers are advised to stay out of the water until further notice.

Lifeguards on Jet Skis are monitoring the area.

The beach will remain closed until at least tomorrow morning, when lifeguards will assess if the beach can be reopened.
