Honolulu police are investigating a traffic accident that apparently escalated into a robbery Friday.
Police said two 29-year-old men got into a minor traffic accident in Kaneohe at about 8:30 a.m.
But the incident escalated when one of the men allegedly took the other man’s property using physical force.
Police were called and officers arrested a Kaneohe man at 10:30 a.m. near the intersection of Ahuimanu Road and Ahuimanu Place on suspicion of second-degree robbery and contempt warrants.
Police released the man Friday afternoon, pending further investigation.

I’m going to guess it was a cell phone that was stolen. These days natural instinct tells a lot of us to whip out our cell phones as soon as something out of the ordinary happens.
agree…getting wild out there
Yeah “Allie”, Wild ‘East’ Side. LOL !!!
Mainland transplants are often clueless when comparing various facets of the timeline for a particular area of our island.
A young acquaintance got sideswiped on the freeway recently. He left his car to find a tow. By the time he returned, his phone and wallet were stolen. Next week, I’ll help him apply for a savings account and a debit card. As long as I’ve known him, he’s lost his wallets and $3600 cash.
Why?
Seems foolish to carry so much cash? Unless seller insisted on cash or someone knew he was carrying cash? Are there insurance policies for individuals carrying cash?
I usually carry just $20 cash in my wallet, everything else is either, my debit or charge cards.
Have the police ruled out the accident was not done on purpose so they can get someone to pull over and get out of their car so they can be robbed? Maybe need to rethink if someone gets bumped from behind and it don’t feel right the person getting bumped should not automatically pull over in an isolated area and get out of their car to exchange insurance information?
No one has names anymore, what’s up with that ?
mental impairment. He’s got an excellent blue-collar job. All he needs to carry is driver’s license, cellphone, debit card and $80.
