The 26.2-mile race starts at 5 a.m. at Ala Moana. The route runs to Kakaako, downtown and continues through Ala Moana, Waikiki, Diamond Head, Kahala and into East Honolulu. Runners turn around in Hawaii Kai and head back to the finish line at Kapiolani Park.

Marathon officials are advising the public of louder than usual fireworks at Sunday’s start. A projected lack of tradewinds won’t carry the sound away from land.
