After 18 years, chef Alan Wong’s Pineapple Room, located in Macy’s at Ala Moana Center, will close its doors. The last day of service is July 29.

The restaurant opened in September 1999 at what was then Liberty House, and over the years was noted for its burger and loco moco, and has been lauded as a favorite business lunch spot.

“Our time has come to say aloha,” said Alan Wong, president and owner of Alan Wong’s Restaurants, in a release. “The dining landscape has changed, and we’ve amicably decided with Macy’s to move on from this concept.”

Employees of the Pineapple Room will be able to apply for work at the flagship restaurant, Alan Wong’s Honolulu.

Wong also has a restaurant in China, Alan Wong’s Shanghai at The Portman – Ritz Carlton.
