Man charged in robbery at Pearl City ATM

A 30-year-old man has been charged after he allegedly robbed a 74-year-old man at an automated teller machine in Pearl City.

Dayton K. Laimana was charged Tuesday with second-degree robbery. His bail was set at $30,000.

At about 6:35 p.m. on June 2, police said the victim was using an ATM machine as the suspect later identified as Laimana stood behind him. Once the machine dispensed an undisclosed amount of cash, Laimana used physical force and took the money from the 74-year-old man, according to police.

Laimana turned himself in at the police department’s Alapai headquarters on Beretania Street Monday afternoon.

He has a criminal record of unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle and theft.
