No tsunami from magnitude-6.4 quake near Tonga

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center affirmed that there is no tsunami threat to Hawaii following a magnitude-6.4 earthquake south of the Fiji islands this evening.

The quake occurred at 6:27 p.m. Hawaii time about 206 miles south-southwest of Vaini, Tonga.

The epicenter was at a depth of about 60 miles near a seafloor feature known as the Tonga Trench.
