No. 2 Warriors sweep Concordia

Sophomore hitter Austin Matautia put down a match-high 15 kills and added three aces as No. 2 Hawaii swept No. 13 Concordia, 25-15, 25-13, 25-21 in a nonconference men’s volleyball match tonight at the Stan Sheriff Center.

The Rainbow Warriors (10-2) outblocked the top blocking team in the country 9-5.5 with junior setter Joe Worsley and junior middle Dalton Solbrig each in on four. Sophomore opposite Rado Parapunov added 11 kills with one error.

Sophomore hitter Raymond Barseman had 11 kills to lead the Eagles (8-7), who saw their three-match winning streak snapped. Concordia, sixth nationally in digs, were outdug by Hawaii 32-12, with Matautia finishing with 10.

The teams meet again at 5 p.m. Sunday.
