Six motorcyclists were injured, one of them critically, when a motorist crashed head-on into them on Kunia Road Monday evening, police said. The vehicle driver was also injured.

According to a Honolulu Police Department report, at about 6:45 p.m., a 41-year-old woman was driving south on Kunia Road near Lyman Road in Wahiawa “when, for unknown reasons, she traveled into the northbound lane of Kunia Road and collided head-on with six motorcyclist who were traveling northbound on Kunia Road.”

All six motorcyclist were ejected onto the roadway, police said. The motorcyclists are three women and three men ranging in age from their 20s to 40s, a Honolulu Emergency Medical Services spokesperson said.

HPD, EMS, the Honolulu Fire Department, and the Federal Fire Department responded to the crash, according to EMS.

Paramedics treated six motorcyclists and the driver of the vehicle, transporting six patients in serious condition and one woman motorcyclist in critical condition to hospitals, EMS officials said.

Police said speed, drugs, or alcohol do not appear to have contributed to the collision, and that the investigation is ongoing. The six motorcyclists were wearing helmets at the time of the collision, according to police.
