Hikers make their way along the tracks of the Koko Crater Hike in East Oahu.

Fire rescue crews were called to aid a 13-year-old hiker in distress on Sunday morning on the Koko Crater Trail.

Fire dispatch got the call at 9:15 a.m. Four companies were called, but Air 1 and the rescue unit were called off.

Fire Capt. Kevin Mokulehua said the hiker, a 13-year-old girl, had a medical condition. Fire personnel walked up the trail and located her just before the track bridge along the trail.

Firefighters treated the girl at the scene, and walked her down the trail.

The fire department transferred the patient to Emergency Medical Services at 9:59 a.m.

People do not know what distressed is. I’m sure many at the FD do know but clearly not these people involved today.

Just let Capt. Mokulehua write these reports. His down to earth, facts only style is refreshing compared to the typical SA tripe.

Let’s see. FD treated the young girl, walked her down the mountain, then EMS transported her on a $1800 ride to the hospital.
