Crews contain 80-acre Maui brush fire

Maui firefighters contained at 7:05 p.m. Monday an 80-acre brush fire in South Kihei.

The Maui Fire Department had been battling the blaze for 10 hours since it broke out at about 9 a.m.

The fire department reported it was 80% contained at 2:30 p.m.

Air 3, three emergency callback crews, Maui County Public Works bulldozer, several private bulldozers and tankers were activated. Earlier 10 units were launched, including Air 1 and Air 2.
