Road repair work will be performed on Laukahi Street, between Kalanianaole Highway and Analii Street, starting Monday.

City officials are alerting motorists of two roadwork projects that begin Monday in East Honolulu — pavement repairs on Laukahi Street and curb ramp construction on Hawaii Kai Drive.

On Laukahi Street in Waialae Iki, the Honolulu Department of Facility Maintenance has scheduled pavement repairs from Kalanianaole Highway to Analii Street starting at 8:30 a.m. on Monday.

Work is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, except for Veterans Day on Wednesday. All traffic, including buses, will be temporarily detoured around this portion of Laukahi Street during construction work hours.

Access to driveways along this portion of Laukahi Street may be restricted while construction work is being done in front of the affected properties, but emergency access will be accommodated as needed, city officials said.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible, use alternate routes and abide by posted traffic signs. Special duty police officers will assist with traffic control.

On Hawaii Kai Drive, construction crews will be working from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, except on holidays. The curb ramp construction work is expected to last about three months.

Motorists in Hawaii Kai are advised to proceed with caution in the construction area, anticipate delays due to lane closure, and observe all traffic control devices and no parking signs, city officials said.

Also, as previously announced, a portion of the H-3 freeway, Kaneohe-bound, will be closed from 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday for the filming of an episode of “Magnum P.I.”

The Hawaii Department of Transportation said the lanes will be closed from the Halawa interchange to the Likelike off-ramp (Exit 9) for the filming. Motorists are advised to use Likelike Highway or Pali Highway during that time.

Questions or concerns about the Hawaii Kai Drive project can be directed to HARON Construction at 456-2069 or Honolulu Department of Design and Construction at 768-8829.
