Man arrested for allegedly robbing couple, impersonating police officer

A 36-year-old man in police custody is suspected of being one of two men who rousted a couple sleeping in their car saying they were police officers and then allegedly robbed them.

Police said the robbery occurred March 28 in the Punchbowl area at 5 a.m.

The two men allegedly robbed a 44-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman and said they were police officers. The pair were sleeping in their car when the two suspects apprached them and identified themselves as police officers. The suspects took the victims’ property and fled the scene. 

One of the suspects was caught Wednesday and arrested on suspicion of first-degree robbery and impersonation of a law enforcement officer. The other suspect is still being sought.
