The Hawaii County Fire Department’s search for the 41-year-old opihi picker from Hilo missing since Tuesday resumed today along King’s Landing shoreline in Waiakea.

The search has been going on since Tuesday night when Joseph Pacheco Jr. failed to return from picking opihi.

Fire officials said yesterday’s search yielded no results any signs of Pacheco, who also is the subject of a missing person case.

Family members found Pacheco’s backpack and dog about one mile south of Shipman Estates Beach after he failed to return home. Pacheco left to pick opihi around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday and was supposed return home around 4:30 p.m.
