The Coast Guard is working to transport the sick captain of a fishing boat 500 miles southwest of Oahu to Honolulu.

A family member called the Coast Guard noon Monday, concerned about his 59-year-old brother, who is the captain of Pacific Blue. The captain reported feeling ill and needed immediate medical help.

The crew was 820 nautical miles southwest of Oahu at the time of the first report.
The Coast Guard sent an HH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopter and an HC-130 Hercules airplane from Air Station Barbers Point.

The two were scheduled to meet with the fishing vessel to medically evacuate the captain yesterday.
