A 57-year-old woman killed Saturday morning in Kalihi was identified as Mary Kim Thanh Vu of Honolulu.

Vu was crossing Waiakamilo Road in a marked crosswalk at 6:40 a.m. when she was struck by a Cadillac Escalade EXT driven by a 54-year old Oahu man turning left onto North King Street.

Vu was rushed to Queen’s Medical Center in critical condition where she died of head and bodily injuries.

According to police, speed did not appear to be a factor and the driver was not taken into custody.

According to police, Vu’s death was the second of two fatal pedestrian collisions in the Kalihi area that week.

Leemar Dacanay, 30, of Kalihi was hit by a pickup truck when crossing Kalihi Street near Eluwene Street about 6:10 a.m. Tuesday and died from injuries the following day.
