A young girl died of injuries she sustained when she was apparently run over by a car in Waialua this afternoon.

It appeared the child was run over in a driveway, said Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for the city Department of Emergency Services. People in the area tried to revive the child, Cheplic said.

Paramedics responded to a call on Mamua Place a 3:01 p.m., Cheplic said.

The girl, who appeared to be under 3, was treated at the scene and taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition. She was pronounced dead a short time later, Cheplic said.
