Investors group to ask state to nullify rival
The head of the Hawaii Venture Capital Association says he will ask the state to nullify a similarly named group that formed last month.
HVCA President Bill Spencer on Thursday said the state Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs should not have registered the Venture Capital Association of Hawaii.
Spencer also contends the new group is linked to Stanford Carr, a top supporter of Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mufi Hannemann.
The VCAH endorsed Hannemann last week, several weeks after Spencer’s older group backed Democrat Neil Abercrombie.
There was no immediate comment from VCAH acting executive director Larry Harmon or the Hannemann campaign.
