White Plains Beach in Kalaeloa has been reopened, after being closed for two hours this afternoon following a shark sighting.
Navy lifeguards closed the beach after a large shark was seen in the area.
An aircraft pilot reported a shark sighting to the air traffic control tower about 1:45 p.m., said Navy Region Hawaii spokeswoman Agnes Tauyan.
Tauyan said lifeguards closed the beach to observe but did not see a shark and reopened the area about 3:45 p.m.
