Five-0 Redux

Meeting ‘Five-0’ fans

Omaha Five-0

When you think of Nebraska — I’m sure like me, you think of cornfields, Big Red football, and steaks. Right now, you may think about the overflowing Missouri River, which is what they are experiencing at the moment. We Hawai’i folk are used to being surrounded by water, but this is an entirely different experience. This water is threatening homes and livelihoods. And it will be something they’ll have to deal with for the next few months. It would be like experiencing the threat of a tsunami almost daily. Yes, wrap your head around that idea.

The view of Omaha and the new stadium- home of the College World Series- from the Iowa side of the Pedestrian Bridge.
A view from the bridge: The Missouri River flooding the park area around the Pedestrian Bridge.

Gee, if only you could fly around the country to do a “H50 fans across the nation” column! How cool would that be?

    Another Redux Side Note:
Jan’s AOL group is called the ‘The DCer’s’ and it’s by invitation only. There are four other women who own this site along with Jan: Andrea McNelley from Goodyear, AZ, Julie from Montreal, Canada, Jan Kiefer from Rochester, NY and Paula Walker from Seaford, Victoria, Australia. They have four other members, but their site is small, only nine of them so far. They just celebrated their first anniversary Feb. 27th. Thanks again, Jan, for all your work and Andrea for setting up the meeting:) XO WB

    • Your very welcome Wendie! I was thrilled to hook you and Jan up! She did the DC’ers proud! And what a wonderful blog you did Wendie! Hope one day you’ll find a reason to come to AZ and I can also meet you face to face. I also belong to a small group of about 6-8 women from the Phoenix area that all met because of Alex O’Loughlin, so there are plenty of people to meet up with here too!

Very great post and photos from the Mainland Wendie. Yes we are having more than our share of bad weather this year in both the winter and now in the spring/summer. My heart goes out to all who are dealing with the floods. Each of your summer “vacation” posts are different and super. Thank you.

Wendie, this is very cool. I think it is awesome that Hawaii Five-0
Fans get to have their moments in the spotlight too. It’s very reassuring to find out that fans of the show have so much in common even though they might live anywhere in the world. Another fantastic article and love the pictures! I feel like I’m on vacation with you!

  8. Another fun new blog, Wendie! I actually live fairly close to the headwaters of the Missouri, and the Yellowstone (which flows into the Missouri) is a near neighbor! These rivers have not crested yet up here in Montana, and the 98 degree weather today is melting the snow pack for another round of flooding – so afraid Omaha and other parts downstream will not be out of the woods yet! Although I love to hear about the people and the news around Hawaii, it’s also nice to know that I am not the only H5-0 obsessed fan living far from the beautiful sunsets and beaches, and it’s cool to hear other fans’ stories! Thanks, Wendie, and Jan, as well!

Thanks for the article on fans from all over. It’s nice to know that there are other people out there who like “Hawaii Five-0” and all things related just as much as I do. If you are ever around Michigan, I’d love to meet you and have a chat. Loved you pics as well!!
