Police locate man reported lost at sea last night

Honolulu firefighters searched for a man reported missing after going out to sea in Waikiki to watch fireworks last night.

The man was on a tow float attached to a boat and became separated from his friends in the dark, said fire Capt. Terry Seelig.

His friends reported him missing at 10:51 p.m. and the fire department rescue boat and helicopter searched for him until about 12:15 a.m. when police were able to locate the man safe at home, Seelig said.
