A stolen holiday wreath taken from an elevator of a Kapahulu building was returned over the holiday weekend with a note apologizing for the theft.

Scott Higashi, executive vice president of sales at Prudential Locations, said they believe the wreath was left at the building sometime during Christmas evening. A note attached to it read: "I’am (sic) sorry that it was taken."

The wreath was stolen on the night of Dec. 15 from an elevator of the former Hawaiian Dredging building at 614 Kapahulu Ave. where Prudential Locations’ corporate headquarters and Side Street Inn on Da Strip is located.

A surveillance camera recorded the theft. In the video posted on YouTube, a woman and a man are seen entering the elevator and the woman pulls the wreath from the elevator wall.

Workers in the building dubbed the thief, "Aunty, the wreath bandit."
