President Barack Obama has ordered all U.S. flags of federal agencies to be flown at half-staff in honor of the late U.S. Sen. Daniel Inouye.

Inouye, the longest serving member of the U.S. Senate, died of respiratory complications on Monday. He was 88.

Obama, in a proclamation issued today, ordered that U.S. flags be flown at half-staff until sunset on the day of Inouye’s burial.

Inouye’s office has not yet released any details about his memorial.

Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie has also ordered that flags in the state be flown at half-staff during the same period of time.
